Synopsis
Going through the picturesque and decadent streets of Cuba, Lav Diaz – the famous Filipino director – and Gustavo Flecha – a talkative Cuban taxi driver – end up discussing politics, migration, social conditions and love. However, the real reason behind the director’s presence in Cuba emerges during their discussions: Lav is looking for a mysterious ex general who fled the Philippines at the end of the dictatorship of Marcos.

Biography
Tommaso Santambrogio is a director, writer, photographer, and video artist. He was born in Milan in 1992 and studied between Milan, London, Paris, Rome, and Havana. He has collaborated with Werner Herzog, under whose supervision he filmed the short film Escena Final in 2018, and with Pupi Avati and Lav Diaz, on whose latest film he recently worked in the Philippines. He was on the jury at the Venice Days of the Venice Film Festival in 2017. L'Ultimo Spegne la Luce (2021) premiered at the 2021 Venice Film Festival and was then selected as one of the five best short films at the 2022 David di Donatello Awards. In 2023, he created Taxibol, which premiered at Visions du Réel. His first feature film, Los Océanos Son Los Verdaderos Continentes (2023), was presented in competition and as the opening film of the Venice Days at the 80th International Venice Film Festival (2023).
