Lore Riot, Love Cinema

On Thursday, June 20 opens the Festival MIX, the festival of cinema and queer culture among the most popular in Italy, which for 4 days will explore works and protagonists of the best national and international LGBTQ+ cinematography and audiovisual production. An edition that opens with the claim “Love Riot” in homage to the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York,
considered the moment that marked the birth of the liberation movement LGBTQ + around the world. A program full of unreleased titles from the most important international festivals. On the opening night of Thursday, June 20, h.20 at the Piccolo Teatro Strehler will be presented Greta, the revelation film of the last Berlinale by Brazilian director Armando Praça, who will be present in the room, along with many guests including Natalia Aspesi and Ambra Angiolini.
The MIX Festival continues until June 23 with screenings, meetings, events and good music in the theater forecourt. The full program here.

Also Africa in the 2019 program of Festival MIX!

On Saturday, June 22, h. 20.45, the film Rafiki by Kenyan Wanuri Kahiu will be screened at Studio Melato. Presented at Cannes in 2018, the film was a worldwide success, telling of a special friendship between 2 girls in a Kenyan village who find themselves having to give up their happiness and freedom in order not to transgress tradition.So as not to miss a single screening, just choose your card!

26 years of female cinema at Sguardi Altrove Film Festival

The 26th edition of the Sguardi Altrove Film Festival is dedicated to beauty and courage, bringing to Milan the best of women’s cinema and taking place from June 13 to 21 at Teatro Franco Parenti, Il Cinemino, Wanted Clan and Après-Coup.

Alongside the competitive sections dedicated to feature films and short films, there will be several parallel sections that this year will focus on themes linked to new technologies and a special tribute to Agnès Varda, the great director who recently passed away.
