Synopsis
DI, 13 years old, lives in an isolated village in the mist-shrouded mountains of Vietnam. She is part of the first generation that has access to education, moving towards a greater awareness of their rights. But in the village the tradition of the “bride’s kidnapping” still exists. One day it is DI's turn: this could mean the end of her adolescence, her studies and the start of her life as an adult woman. The girl, however, is determined and sensitive and does not give up...

Biography
Diem Ha Le was born in 1991 in the Tay ethnic minority, who live in the mountains of north-eastern Vietnam. She left her home town to study journalism at the University of Social and Human Sciences in Hanoi, where she graduated in 2013. Children of the Mist (2021) is her first feature documentary, which had its world premiere at IDFA 2021.
