Audience development

New audiences from A to Zebra

New Audiences from A to Zebra project stems from the need to reach out to an audience that, now more than ever, is less and less attracted to cultural activities and offers.

Culture can be a tool to understand the differences between people, and to bring out, through dialogue, what unites us as human beings. The aim of the project is to increase the film audience of the African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival, with particular attention to audiences under 35, the international communities in Milan and audiences from outside the city.

With this aim, we introduced more foreign comedies, proposing films with a comedy tone representing different communities, we organised short film screenings in some of the most populated venues in Milan, we presented the FESCAAAL to students from different universities through screenings and meetings with the authors directly in the classrooms, and we organised a tour of “cinematographic” concerts in collaboration with the Elikya Choir, a multicultural ensemble.

The project was carried out in partnership with Fondazione ISMU and Associazione Elikya and funded by Fondazione Cariplo.

Borders, frontiers, identities

The project Confini, frontiere, identità (Borders, frontiers, identity) aims at widening the cultural offer of Lecco and its province with a wide and articulated programme of events, initiatives and training opportunities for different targets, with particular attention to some contexts of territorial and social marginality.

Association COE, which promotes and organises the FESCAAAL, has been involved for many years in projects in the fields of integration of migrant citizens, international cooperation and cultural promotion. Cultural policies are active tools to counteract the political, social and cultural effects of a rigid conception of the border as a closure to diversity, and to encourage confrontation and encounters also through cinema.

The project was realised by Associazione Les Cultures – Laboratorio di cultura internazionale in partnership with Associazione COE and funded by Fondazione Cariplo in the framework of Bando Cultura di qualità.
