Synopsis
A short animated film about a young African woman swimming in the freezing water of the sea around Iceland. A poetic reflection on identity and the difficulties of bringing up a child in a country where you do not feel at home. But contact with wild nature and with her own fears are helping her to heal.

Biography
Fan Sissoko is an artist and director based today in Reykjavik, with a background in social design, thanks to which he has collaborated over the years with several museums and institutions. On the Surfaceis supported by the programme Art With Impact, and has been screened at many festivals all over the world, including Clermont-Ferrand, Encounters, Ottawa International Animation Festival, Margate Film Festival, and Rex Animation Festival.
