Synopsis
In Val Pellice, in the province of Turin, six African youngsters are waiting for a board to decide whether they can build a new life in Italy or not. But they also have in common the fact of being part of the only curling team in Europe that is made up entirely of asylum-seekers. Will a completely new element, ice, help them stay in Italy?

Biography
Tomaso Clavarino was born in 1986. A photographer and documentary-maker, he has worked since 2012 for the leading international and national publications, working on photographic and multimedia projects. Winner in 2017 of the Voglino Prize and of the Barbiellini Amidei Prize, Honourable Mention at the Fabbri Prize in 2018, he has exhibited his work at the most improtant international festivals of photography such as Les Rencontres d’Arles, Fotografia Europea, Format19, PhotoKathmandu and Athens Photo Festival. Over the years he has been funded on many occasions by prestigious institutions and foundations such as the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the European Journalism Center/Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Ghiaccio is his first documentary as a director and had its Italian premiere at the 60th Festival dei Popoli.
